Alabama Allure

Over the past few years, more and more people have made the great state of Alabama home. With its nationally-renown southern hospitality and rich history, it should be no wonder. Located in the southeast region of the United States and bordering Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi, Alabama is the 30th largest state in size and 23rd in population with just over 4.6 million residents. Many people who move to Alabama put down their roots in Birmingham, the state’s highest populated city.

The Birmingham-Hoover metro area has over 1.1 million residents. The capital, Montgomery, is the second-largest city in the state. The University of Alabama, located in Tuscaloosa and steeped in Southeastern Conference football tradition, is the state’s largest university. In fact, a record number of young minds have chosen to make the move to U of A to be their home for the next four years; the Fall 2009 total enrollment was the highest in the school’s history.
