Arkansas is a state of diverse culture, history and nature. In fact, Arkansas is known as “The Natural State” for its gorgeous scenery, from clear lakes to free-flowing streams to mountains to plentiful fishing and wildlife. It was the 25th state admitted to the Union in 1836. A southern state, Arkansas is bordered by Missouri to the North, Tennessee and Mississippi to the east, Louisiana to the south, and Texas and Oklahoma to the west.
The capital city is Little Rock, which is also the most populous city in the state (almost 190,000 people). Other notable cities include Fort Smith, Pine Bluff, Fayetteville, and Jonesboro. Nationally, Arkansas is in the middle of the pack in total area and population: 29th for the former and 32nd for the latter.
