Foundation in Virginia

Virginia is a state with a distinguished part in American history. Not only was Virginia one of the original Thirteen Colonies that the United States was founded on, but eight of the nation’s Presidents were born there. Located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean near the southern part of the country, Virginia is bordered by Maryland and the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. to the north and east, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, North Carolina to the south, Tennessee to the southwest, Kentucky to the west, and West Virginia to the west and to the very north.

Despite being neighbors to a decent number of states, Virginia is not very large; it is 35th in land area. On the bright side for the state, its population is quite high at 12th in the country, with Virginia Beach as the state’s largest city. Richmond is the capital of Virginia, the tenth state admitted into the Union.
